Mississippi Home Corporation Grants Up to $14,999  Grants Help Qualified Home Buyers 

Metro Jackson, Mississippi, September 30, 2010 – Paula Ricks of Coldwell Banker Nell Wyatt, Inc., Realtorsays this is a great time to buy a home. Mississippi Home Corporation (MHC) has received approximately 1.6 million in funds to help home buyers purchase homes. Qualified individuals meeting set income limits will be eligible for MHC grants up to $14,999. The grant money is to be applied towards down payment and closing costs.

Income limits do apply, but it can be combined with rural housing, FHA, VA, USDA-RHS, approved Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac 30-year conventional loans with Private Mortgage Insurance. MHC’s grant may be used with their Mortgage Revenue Bond Program.

These MHC grant rules apply:
  1. Open to both first-time buyers and current homeowners (must have your home listed for sale or leased).
  2. The home must serve as your primary residence and be located in an eligible area.
  3. Qualifying properties: site-built, single family homes, condos and town homes.
  4. You must be a United States citizen.
  5. Must qualify through a MHC approved lender for a permanent fixed-rate mortgage.
  6. Lender may take the grant value into consideration when approving mortgage.
  7. Income eligibility limits cannot exceed 80% of HUD area median income adjusted for family size.
  8. Purchase price limits cannot exceed 95% of the area median purchase price which is $257,497.
  9. Properties must meet state and local housing quality standards and codes.
